Captured from Lake Como, looking back toward Villa La Cassinella and its signature cypress trees. From this vantage point on the water, the villa reveals its relationship to the landscape. Perched between lake and mountain, its gardens descend to meet the water. The cypresses stand as vertical punctuation against the horizontal expanse of Como, their dark silhouettes creating the contrast that has made this one of the lake's most recognisable profiles. This is the view that has launched a thousand photographs, yet on film it takes on a timeless quality, as if the scene could be from any decade of the past century.
